Description
The nose is inviting and zesty, brimming with tropical fruit aromas and whiffs of citrus blossom, ginger and angelica. The fresh yellow apples, quince, and poached pear of the nose follow through onto a smooth palate with delicate flavours of greengage, granadilla, apple crumble, lemon curd and tarragon. The entry is fruity, with a balanced midpalate showing medium body, a creamy texture and vibrant, integrated acidity. Hints of fresh pineapple, preserved lemons, and gentle notes of allspice linger on a clean, tart finish.

Vineyard
The terroir is hot, dry and harsh but perfectly suited to make distinctive Chenin Blanc. These select vineyards allow for making textured wines with richness and minerality. The soils enhance apple and lime flavours with balanced natural acidity. Minimal intervention during fermentation with extended lees contact adds further structure and complexity to the wine. This unpretentious, honest Chenin Blanc is a true reflection of the Swartland.
Vinification
Gentle winemaking practices with minimum intervention contribute to this approachable wine. The grapes were harvested at different ripeness levels, striving for freshness, fruit character, balance and structure. Extended lees contact was used for a rounder mouthfeel and texture. Fermentation took place in stainless steel under controlled temperature conditions prior to blending. No acidification during any stage of vinification.
